The Future of Water Purification: This Bottle Purifies Water Instantly [Video]
To find clean drinking water is gradually becoming more difficult around the world, especially for people in some developing nations; their water bodies have been polluted due to illegal environmental activities.
In some African countries, illegal mineral mining has contributed to making most streams and rivers unsafe for drinking. The affected people have no alternative; rather they endure long processes trying to purify water from these sources. Those who cannot go through this long f purification process, drink the contaminated water. The resulting consequences are dangerous health issues, some resulting in death.
Developed countries also suffer their share of issues from a challenging water supply, however, those water challenges found in developing nations are often widespread. In the light of these challenges, in trying to make our water safe and clean for drinking, a start-up company in the United States has introduced a simple but very useful bottle that can purify water within a shorter period of time.
The Seattle-based company is called Grayl. Grayl is the brain behind the Grayl Ultra-light Water Purification System. The bottle is actually a water bottle inside another container. It is designed to be pushed downward, and the pressure generated as a result of that push is what purges the water through the filter to purify it.
Because Grayl is a start-up company, it lacks the funding to start large scale production of these water bottles. Recently, the company completed a Kickstarter Campaign to get the useful purifying water bottles produced in large quantities.
According to Grayl, the bottle is very useful for travelers and tourists who explore other parts of the world. The bottle is said to be an effective water filtration system for most outdoor water sources. It is easy to use, and produces clean and fresh tasting water in just some 15 seconds.
The designers said the bottle is designed to protect against waterborne bacteria and Protozoan diseases. Its features include activated carbon, which improves taste and also eliminates odor in contaminated water.
For bacteria and Protozoa protection, it is said the bottle is able to remove about 99.99% of such contaminates. Grayl is not ending its efforts of trying to make our water clean and safe for us. The company is considering making the invention larger, to be able to help other people across these developing nations.
The usefulness of the bottle has attracted the attention of science communicators. Hashem Al-Ghaili, a popular science communicator on social media, has put together a short video explaining what the bottle can offer to its users. See what you think about such an invention.
