Amazon's Jeff Bezos Bans PowerPoint In Meetings. The Replacement Is Better
In his 2018 annual meet, Jeff Bezos abided by his rule that PowerPoint Presentations are banned in executive meetings. The replacement provides us with a better insight into the minds of effective leaders and entrepreneurs.
Bezos revealed that NARRATIVE STRUCTURE is much more effective than the alternatives. Amazon's Executives are in for a cultural shock, as they no longer have to read out the bullet points, instead, now everyone sits silently for 30-35 minutes to read a "six-page memo that's narratively structured."
After that's done everyone now discusses the topic, "It's so much better than traditional methods " Bezos Adds.
Here's Why They Are Evolutionarily Better For Our Brains :
Anthropologists point out that when humans gained control of fire, it marked a major milestone in human brain development. Our ancestors were able to cook food, which an add-on. But, more importantly, People sat around the campfire swapping stories and daily events, Narratively. Stories served as instructions, warnings and inspirations.
Neuroscientists have found that stories being persuasive, generate emotions, which is the fastest way to Brain. In other words, the simplest and the fastest way to spread an idea or explain something is through storytelling.
Bullet points are the least effective ways to share ideas. Even Google's Sunder Pichai, Elon Musk, Richard Branson have stopped using bullet points and now Jeff Bezos. There's a reason, Bullets Don't Inspire, Stories Do.
