The Growing Divide Between Those That Will And Those That Will Not.steemCreated with Sketch.

Thinking about the changes in technology and the effects it has on society and governments, I am more and more inclined to believe that there will be a growing divide between the type of people that are willing to adapt and produce and those that just want to sit around consuming.

Everywhere I look, I see the old ways slowly crumbling and I believe that new ways are showing up at exponential speeds. This will certainly cause a lot of disruption and trouble for many people.

These changes seem to be invigorating for society but they are suffocating and replacing the perceived need for governments with more voluntary solutions and concepts.

People say that nothing is new under the moon, right? Has there ever been a time like this, though?

We have the option to use these tools for good and evil. I have no doubt that we will see plenty of both, but it is going to harder and harder for monopolies to maintain their grasp. What evil that can be done is minuscule compared to the scale that governments have done.

How does this mean that there will be a growing divide between those that will and those that will not?

One thing that monopolies (ie government) tend do is slow the pace and allow a populace to get comfortable. People find ways to suck off them and those methods tend to work for quite some time without the desire for advancement.

I believe that rapidly advanceing decentralized technologies go hand in hand with a more robust and peaceful one, but the people that benefit the most will by necessity need to develop a culture of fluidity and action.

Another great post...along the lines with what we were chatting about yesterday.

I agree there will be a divide between those that will and those that will not. However, I think it will be temporary (in societal terms meaning years). We will get to the point where the difference between the haves and the have nots will be too large for even the most inept politician to ignore. At that point, there will have to be some type of plan to get basic resources in the hands of people. Since technology is going to eradicate jobs in a large way, the problem will be too big for the political establishment to sweep aside. At the same time, with mass unemployment comes the inability for the corporate elite to sell their products. This kills their stock price which puts the fancy job in jeopardy.

In the meantime, a certain portion of the population is learning about tech and what some of the possibilities are. Unfortunately, I do not believe it is a large segment. This will put the developed worlds in a situation where the "cushy" lifestyle is at risk.

At their core, most people want to do things they enjoy and are interested in. We know the model we operate under creates jobs only to keep the populous at bay. Give them enough to feed themselves and that is it. These newer technologies can change that. I truly believe abundance is on its way.

It is incredible progress that we are getting in many areas. Even so we are going to have several bottlenecks in the near future. I am optimistic and I believe in the human being. Every time the human being has faced a great challenge as a species, he has not only surpassed it, but has also brought about a rebirth on many levels.

Good points. It seems rare that humans go backwards for long.

Yes it's correct. It is part of a nonlinear evolution such as we have had so far. Unfortunately we are going backwards because the interests that move the world are not the right ones for greater growth. Now we could talk about Bilderberg. But for centuries that role was played by different religions or kingdoms.

I think they are losing their grip. The communications we have and the technology available to all of us seems like too much for them to contain. I guess we will see.
