One of the colossal errors of every single society is to write new laws for every single event. Instead of focusing on basic natural rights, which pretty much cover ALL the situations, the list of laws and regulations keeps growing, with unbelievable (and misguided, I want to believe) popular support, eroding freedom step-by-step.
I agree, except I wouldn't call it an "error." The politicians who push that crap, who use every bad event to grab more power for themselves, are never trying to fix the problem. They are only trying to get more power, which they do.
