What is Fascism?

Fascism is a form of Socialism. Fascism is fundamentally about economics, but it has been tainted as to be linked with racism, thanks to Hitler. Fascism is essentially state-socialism that promotes unity and revolution not just through class (workers, etc), but through national identity. Fascism is when big business, or big corporations "partner" with government, in order to take money, rather than earn it through classical capitalism, the free exchange of goods and services. Fascism is essentially another form of socialism, that emphasizes the use of corporatism as a means of socializing the nation and growing the state.

Where Did Fascism Come From?

Fascism was invented by Giovanni Gentile, an Italian philosopher, who believed that there were two opposed types of democracy. The first type was Liberal Democracy, of which Gentile believed to be too centered on liberty and personal rights, and therefore "selfish". The second type was True Democracy, of which Gentile describes as where individuals willingly subordinate themselves to the state. Gentile also learned much from Karl Marx, and wanted to achieve an ideology that brought people together, in a family, all-for-all kind of thing, much like what we hear from the mouths of communists. Gentile was a man of the left, he self-proclaimed to be so. He is known to have been a die-hard socialist. To Gentile, Fascism is a form of socialism, a form which mobilizes people not only based on their economic class like in Marxism, but also on their national identity.

Gentile believed:

  • That all private action should be oriented to serve society, therefore there is no distinction between the private interest and public interest. The two are the same (promoted corporatism)
  • That the administrative arm of society is the state.
  • That to submit to society is to submit to the state, the two work together.
  • That "All is in the state and nothing human exists or has value outside of the state" (paraphrased by Mussolini in his La Dottrina Del Fascismo)

(Benito Mussolini)

Fascism Today

Fascism today is much more prominent than you may think. Democrats in America promote a similar, if not identical ideology to that of Gentile's. Democrats push for more state control over the private sector, such as publicizing health care and banking, as well as education and other things. This is best described as state-run capitalism (although it doesn't promote capitalism in any sense, shape or form), and is exactly what Mussolini and Hitler pushed for, and achieved, during their dictatorships.

Another example of Fascism today is the corporate-fascism we see occurring in western society, but the best examples also come from the US. These example are of private companies "partnering" with government.

  • Elon Musk and his Tesla electric car operation.
  • The bailouts circa 2008.

Overview

Fascism is:

  • An ideology that promotes big government and state run society.
  • An ideology that promotes redistribution of excess wealth earned from small business.
  • An ideology that uses the earnings and innovations made by private corporations to benefit the government.
  • An form of socialism that is right of communism.

I hope this article was helpful. Fascism is really as simple as that.
