Taking the Plunge - A First Time Cryptocurrency Experience

in #anarchy7 years ago (edited)

Today, I finally took some of my hard-earned blood money (U.S. Dollars, aka Federal Reserve notes), and have converted it into Ethereum, Bitcoin, Litecoin, and EOS.

By the way, have you ever noticed the barbed-wire looking stuff on the outside of the circle surrounding the Eye of Providence (exactly whose providence it is, is up for debate, but that is a common term for the eye atop the pyramid on the $).

I've known about cryptocurrency from back when Bitcoin was a dollar, and I remember speaking with a friend at an event not too long afterwards, and he mentioned he was trying his hand at mining and had ended up with one coin.

Well, if I would have had some foresight, and been a bit more of a risk-taker, I should have taken my 401K at the time (which I had stopped contributing to some years prior), worth about $12k, and just dumped it all into Bitcoin. It would be valued at over a half million dollars, based on the current market.

I should have listened to people like @dollarvigilante, who are adamant that cryptocurrency is the exchange mechanism of the future.

It was helping a friend get started in cryptocurrency that finally convinced me, anyone and everyone with a brain at this stage in the game should do their  research and at least put a bit of their liquid assets into a few different cryptocurrencies.

Being a fairly run-of-the-mill, lower-middle class income earner here in the fascist/communist corporate nation-state that is the U.S., unfortunately I have to start small, and in some ways, the opportunity for me to make gains in this game have passed.

However, even if I don’t make any gains, having the knowledge of how cryptocurrency works and understanding the true power offered to the individual - the knowledge that, as a human being you are able to create your own value and wealth, without enslavement to a money system - is worth the time spent and the fiat dollars exchanged in order to gain a different perspective of how the world works.

I will be posting some more stories and some interesting interactions based on our present times, that I think people should be aware of. Stay tuned.
