Spiders Can Spend All Earth Men in a Year

Spiders can spend all humanity on Earth in less than a year and remain hungry afterwards.

Spiders are very easy to find around us. In fact, sometimes we have to share the room at home with these eight-legged animals.

Most spiders prey on insects, but some larger species have been seen feeding on lizards, birds, even small mammals!

Seeing the appetite of large spiders, an intriguing question arises in the heads of two European biologists: If spiders also prey on humans, how many humans can they eat?

The two biologists, Martin Nyffeler and Klaus Birkhofer, finally conducted a study to find out the approximate total weight of prey consumed by spiders of spiders around the world.

In a research report published in the journal Science of Nature, Nyffeler and Birkhofer revealed that the spider evolved about 400 million years ago and is one of the most common and abundant predators in the Earth's ecosystem.

"The pervasive prey of global flocks for a year varies between 400 and 800 million tonnes," they wrote.

Meanwhile, the 2012 study estimates that the total mass of all mature humans on Earth is about 287 million tonnes.

Based on the above figures, that means the weight of the prey consumed by spiders in a year is much more than the combined weight of all mature humans on Earth.

Quite astonishing
