FRIZZLE CHICKEN
When I was in the valley last week catching a cold, I was able to visit a local Apiary that specializes in exotic birds of all types. This little guy cracked me up. I didn't have the owner with me to tell me what breed he is, but I think he is a Gold-Laced-Frizzle-Poland. He was in a nasty mood immediately as we walked up to the pen. He may be in a fowl mood because he seems to be molting. He puffed himself all up and actually hissed at me! So cute, don't you think? Definately the cock of the walk.
This is my entry for @juliank's Monday animal photography. The rules are as follows:

A rooster with moxy! LOL
How cute is he!!?
This is driving me nuts... I am looking at that tail, and I am 99% sure that is not a chicken. It looks so familiar though, like I should know what it is!!
This is going to drive me crazy....
Ok I figured it out!! (With the help of some facebook peeps!) It is a ruffed grouse!
Nice picture!
LOL thank you for your research. The apiary has many different types of birds. The owner wasn't with us on our tour, so I really was taking a poke in the dark. He was a hisser and so very cute. I have seen grouse in the wild and never saw one with this display or sound. Most drum with their wings, this one hissed. I will ask the owner when I can. inquiring minds want to know. :)
Haha no prob! I wasnt trying to be an annoying corrector, I just saw this bird and KNEW I had seen it before, and KNEW it wasnt a chicken, and it was going to drive me nuts if I didnt figure it out! I posted it in a couple facebook groups I am in and according to about 20-30 people it is for sure a ruffed grouse, (there are quite a few kinds of grouse...).
