Mith or Reality?
Hello everyone, friends today I bring you an animal that we will discover if it is a real animal or is an edited photo I hope you like it, The water deer has fangs instead of horns, a feature that is very interesting. In spite of this, it is genetically demonstrated that it is a species of deer. It has a very long and elegant neck, the hind legs are longer than the front so it has a height appearance in the shoulder region.
These animals are golden brown, but they may have some scattered black hairs and some white or cream spots too. Its tail is so short that it is almost invisible unless you search well. The adult males weigh about 35 pounds and the females around 25 pounds, they are about two feet tall, so they are classified as one of the smallest deer species.
Distribution
China and Korea are the main countries where this deer lives, mainly near the coastal wetlands of Yancheng, along the Yangtze River. The tall reeds and pastures provide shelter and protection to these animals. Some of them live in mountain areas that are too low and apparently do very well there, others remain in areas of wet grassland.
Behavior
They are excellent swimmers and sometimes find themselves doing these same movements on earth. You can swim many miles without using a lot of energy. They are solitary animals, except for the mating season.
Diet / Food
The diet of the water deer is composed of grass, branches, fruits and all types of vegetation present in the areas where it lives. They seem very happy while they eat slowly and although they get a lot of water from what they eat, they need to drink a lot of clean water.
Reproduction
The males are very territorial and this increases when the heat season begins, they usually leave very strong smells through urine and feces. When two males are in the same area for mating they will try to stay away from each other, they will make contact with the eyes and they will move in circles, since they do not have horns they cacannotight like other deer species do.
However, they use their fangs to try to hurt the other. Usually, one of the males will leave before the situation rises to that level. When we see a water deer with scars on its face, it is almost always the result of its participation in such battles.
The males emit sounds similar to a bark when they are in search of the females to mate. At that time the females are already gathered in small groups waiting. The male mates with all the females in that group. After mating, it can take up to 6 months for the hatchlings to hatch.
The females give birth to 2 to 3 offspring, but there have been cases of calvings with 7 offspring. The young deer are taken to an isolated area where they are able to stay well hidden for about a month. They seem to delight in the company of their brothers, but it can be a difficult task for the mother to take care of them all at once. When they are close to 6 months, they usually venture out and take care of themselves.
Yeah it is real.
Water deer (Hydropotes inermis) is a smallest deer superficially more similar to a musk
deer than a true deer.Korea, there are two subspecies: the Chinese water deer (Hydropotes inermis inermis) and the Korean water deer (Hydropotes inermis argyropus).
