Have you seen a Mearkat before?

The Mearkat is more at home in Africa or in this case they are quite cozy in the Florida sun. The Mearkat is most known for keeping a family together to help fend off prey that is flying over head or much larger than them. They are quite skilled at digging tunnels in the dirt.
They have a system of “keeping guard” and communicating if something is approaching and they quickly scurry underground.

Note in the photos below how attentive they are. The size of a family can be quite large. You often see them playing and even helped to keep each other clean. They are definitely fun to watch and photograph.
