What we accomplished in 2019
We are a relatively new organization and I'm gonna take a minute here to speak about our accomplishments in the past year.
We are a small operation, but when i see these numbers in front of me it is with a great sense of pride because based on the importance of sterilization that I have talked about so much in the other articles I think it is easy to understand that just one dog or cat on the streets can replicate at an alarming rate and mostly these animals end up having a very low quality of life filled with disease and hunger.
Founded by Paul Watling & Rhiannon Clarke in 2018, Krabi Animal Welfare started very slowly since the startup costs were so immense. Once we got over that hump and did some fundraising, we were delighted by how quickly things started to move more quickly and efficiently.
In 2019 alone we sterilized 742 dogs and cats on the streets and beaches of Krabi. In addition to this we we have provided care to 156 other animals suffering from skin conditions such as mange, deadly internal conditions including cancer, as well as broken bones from road traffic accidents.
It was a great year and for us it is fantastic to see the work we have put forth make a real difference in the community but there is so much more to be done. Since we are not supported by the government in any way, the amount of work we can do is completely limited to the amount of money we can raise in Krabi, and abroad.
We are feeling positive for 2020 as our efforts have become more well-known abroad. It is nice, however, to imagine that in those near 750 sterilizations we have prevented more than 2000 other cases of animal suffering in the future.

Good work @kbv.animalwelf! I hope your continue the work you are doing. This will help not only the animals, but people in the area as well. Keeping the animals healthy is good for all.
I agree. Our primary function is to ease the suffering of the animals themselves but another aspect of the massive stray population is that they are a nuisance to the human population as well. Sometimes they bite people and they also rip apart trash bags looking for food and make a real mess of the community in general.
Hopefully, discussions like this will continue to help educate people on the importance of taking care of animals because they are part and parcel of the community that we live in. And, whether we like it or not, will have a positive or negative impact on us humans.
