Discovering sheep and some thoughts on keeping pets...

I grew up in a zoo, and of course in a zoo little to zero attention is given to 'unexotic animals' like sheep. So only recently I found out sheep are quite entertaining and social beings! And their fur is so sturdy and so thick!! I can really imagine they would appreciate a shave in the summer! But of course we can never know for sure what they really appreciate and what not, for we don't speak the same language.
It's a complicated quest to live a life of least harm to others. Living is harming other life forms, there is no way around that: we have to eat. But, it is important to do the best we can with the knowledge we have.

These days I am in doubt about getting a pet. I am not home that often, so I would need to get 2 at least, so they are not alone. But, actually it is not fair to lock up animals that should be free. Then again, cities and suburbs here are full of stray cats, and it's not safe for them on the street. Wouldn't it be a good thing to rescue some animals from the streets?

What do you think? Do you have pets, would you get one from a shelter?
