Cute Animal of the Week #1 - Helen of Troy

Meet our 2 year old Kinder goat (Pygmy x Nubian cross), Helen of Troy!

The Kinder is a great breed for a small farm. They are a medium sized dual purpose breed, both great milk and meat producers and very efficient foragers. Helen is a beautiful example of the breed. She had an unconventional start to life, and was raised inside like a pet as an infant. She then lived with a couple of Great Pyrenees dogs before coming to live at Red-Tailed Farm. Here she learned to be a goat again, grazing on a variety of weeds and unwanted plants. She also likes to play with the dogs and often goes on walks with them. :)
