“Suicide Squad Isekai,” the latest animated show from DC Comics, is available to stream for Max and Hulu subscribers. The story imagines Task Force X, the titular Suicide Squad, whisked away to an alternate fantasy world with the typical fantasy kingdoms and monsters. It begins with Harley Quinn crossing paths with Katana and losing which leads to her being arrested by the authorities.

Harley is placed in the custody of A.R.G.U.S, commanded by Amanda Waller.

Harley is teamed with fellow prisoners Deadshot, King Shark, Clayface, and Peacemaker to investigate the disappearance of its previous team. Task Force X is sent through a portal created by A.R.G.U.S. but their helicopter crashes after going through. Their handlers are killed in the crash and they are apprehended by forces of the magic kingdom.

Task Force X is forced to do the kingdom’s bidding to live. If that wasn’t bad enough, they have a limited amount of time to get back to their helicopters or the bombs in their heads will explode.

The visuals and story are great, but one thing that SELLS the show is the ending sequence performed by Mori Calliope. The visuals remind me of the feeling whenever I watch an ending to a “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” ending sequence.

But, a big BUT…

What sold it was Amanda Waller dancing while keeping her stone-cold composure. I was sold on the opening sequence of “Peacemaker” when the titular antihero and the rest of the cast did a dance number while maintaining an emotionless expression. I think DC Entertainment discovered a new formula that works.

I thought nothing could top Peacemaker dancing, but dang…

I don’t think anybody could top Amanda Waller dancing. Holy s–t… I normally skip the ending sequence and go on to the next episode, but Amanda Waller's dancing compels me to watch it to the end.

“Suicide Squad Isekai” wins on originality and creativity points on that one.

If you need a reason to watch the anime, watch to see Amanda Waller dance.
