Thoughts
The Gamer is one of those manhwa/mangas that seems a little too cliche but you can't just help yourself from reading it. To start off, it's about a story of a game addict, who acquired a strange ability that enabled his life to turn into a video-game setting. While the idea of living your life like in a video game isn't new (Hi Sword Art Online and Log Horizon!), The Gamer still offers a very enjoyable storyline. We are introduced to a world known as the 'Abyss', a world full of magic and people with different and unique abilities blah blah blah you probably already know where this is all going.
What makes The Gamer enjoyable to read is probably its main character, Han Jee Han. His actions are really relatable to someone who likes gaming. At one point, Han Jee Han, because of his 'Gamer Ability' just spend his time grinding inside a dungeon to gain a tremendous and ridiculous level up, which is insanely unfair to other characters who spent years of training because they don't have his so called gamer ability.
Compared to other manhwas with fully covered pages, the artstyle of The Gamer is simplistic. No, It's not bad just plain simple. It focuses more on its characters expressions and their actions making the background and other details suffer. However the humor and the story makes up for all of it so we're all good.
Overall, While the artstyle of the gamer is simplistic, even it's storyline seems a little bit cliche. All of these things are maked up with it's humor and delivery. The Gamer is enjoyable and very fun to read. At present, The Gamer now already has 208 chapters and is still ongiong, updated every Friday on Line Webtoons.
I love this manga. On Chapter 157 and powering through. Good review/impression and overview of it! Resteemed!
Thanks! :)
very good anime post, some of my friends are really very interested to PC games.
Thanks! And they will probably love this :)
Although it's not groundbreaking, it's the kind of thing I'll probably be into.
You will definitely love this :)
I know it's quite interesting webtoon, but... its too.. short to enjoy, comparing to other manhwas in naver-webtoon part :-(
Ha. I think I know what you mean. The Gamer has the worst cliffhangers ever, you are so into the reading, scrolling and scrolling and all of a sudden 'End of Chapter' lol
