It isn't as good as Evangelion, but it's a mecha, nonetheless. Keep in mind that Evangelion is a deconstruction of its genre and an attempt to deconstruct all anime as we conceived it. Darling in the Franxx is painting inside of the line, and it's good, but even if it's based on Evangelion, it's kind of hard to compare them.

Speaking of the nature of the Franxx, that's something they grasped in the last chapter, but yeah, I would also like to see more deeply into that =) .

I mean they have macha but sadly they do not have much intensive actions on to it. So I wonder why they even put mechanics into it if they gonna focus strongly on the dramatic emotions. Plus trigger made masterpiece anime prior to actions and add the story along. They seems to make a new shot but seems to be rush or undone, even though they have the great potential to make better.
