Pop Team Epic /ANIME
The past month of January of 2018 could be seen in simulcast by Crunchyroll the series of 12 episodes, or 24 (I do not have it clear), Pop Team Epic. Or, for short, Poputepipikku. 「ポ プ テ ピ ピ ッ ク」
Anime based on the popular yon-koma (strip of 4 vignettes) of the same name, with two protagonists called Popuko and Pipimi.
The absurd humor transcends the boundaries of fiction to become practically a parody of the parody itself. It is a work that extracts the incipient surrealism of the current popular culture. Mocking all the modern fashions to which he winks without stopping; at the same time it refers to fashions that almost nobody remembered.
As a good 4-koma, it is not a series with a plot but mostly short sketches of sophisticated humor. Each one directed with different style by different main directors involved in the anime.
If your sense of humor is not sufficiently developed for this series it is better to leave it for a moment in which your curious mind yearns to see something different from the usual and has the capacity to make sense of what is going to see or simply assume that not everything in this life he has it.
To show, each episode of the series is broadcast as if someone had recorded over a "normal" anime after watching an episode of about 25 minutes, entitled "Hoshiiro Girldrop" with its opening and everything, which seems to be an anime of experiences and romance of the times that run; following the joke with which the anime was announced a year earlier in "april fools". And, finished the poputepipikku chapter, the progress of the next episode is of course "Hoshiiro Girldrop". Fictional series that sooner or later will be really done. And it would not be the first time as it happens in Densha Otoko or in Genshiken.
As if that joke was not enough, each chapter lasts about 12 minutes really and is broadcast twice with different actors and actresses for the voice of Popuko and Pipimi. While the rest of the characters usually have the same voice in both parts of the chapter. Although sometimes, the script changes and improvises differently between a part of the chapter and its "repetition".
It has more than one celebrated musical number and touches of videogame culture, films and otaku world condensed. In any case, it is not an anime that leaves anyone indifferent, for better or for worse. But you have never seen another series like it before.
