They are birds endowed with great intelligence (if you compare them with other birds), although among other less intelligent birds an important intelligence has been discovered that has even allowed an interaction between Homo sapiens and birds, although such intelligent interaction ( as occurs between the species of birds called taxonomically Indicator indicator) does not reach the higher degree existing between that of pigeons or between crows2 and monogamous; this characteristic allows them great care of their offspring and, even, perhaps an important (ethological) affective relationship between parents and offspring. Monogamy among pigeons, on the other hand, seems to greatly facilitate a high reproductive rate (although also, like other wild animals, pigeons suffer from a great "infant" mortality). The young of pigeons, shortly after being ready to self-sustain and sufficiently developed to fly, are expelled from the territory in which the progenitor pair nests, since the same usually returns to procreate in a short interval of time two other pigeons to those that the couple, father and mother, spend a great deal of time in care (the mother usually spends much of her time in the simple nest hatching the eggs and then taking care of the chicks while the father or pigeon looks for food to nourish the family).
