Snow on the Mountain

in #appalachia7 years ago

Whatever problems I may have with modern Appalachian culture, let it never be said there aren't things to see here. We just had an early spring snowfall, which transformed the dreary, winter-bare mountains around my house into a crystal wonderland. I stepped outside this afternoon and snapped some photos from my front and side porches. It's just too pretty not to share.

Spring is very impressive, I would love to see it. because in our area there is no snow. because we in Indonesia (Aceh-Stunami) only have two seasons.

Snow is pretty to see, but it's a pain to deal with. I'm just glad I didn't have to leave the house this time while it was thick on the ground.

Ugh, the sky is so pretty! It's hard to get that NC blue, what, with all the smog and everything. I've lived in Shelby my whole life and can count on one hand the times I've seen "NC blue."
You lucky duck!

I thought it was just so striking. It didn't last long, though. Sadly.

Well, thank God for the photo then :D

I love the look of the forest and hills, regardless of whether it be summer or fall or winter or spring. You do have some beautiful scenery. Good to see you can still enjoy it, even after seeing it for so many years.

@catherine813 walked the property a few days ago and got some gorgeous shots from the top of the mountain you see in the last photo. We also found an old springhouse that I didn't know was on the property at all. Still full to the brim with the clearest water I've ever seen. As soon as the snow melts, I'm going back to get photos and make a post about it. It was the neatest feeling, almost like finding a fairy garden in your back yard.

Really gorgeous shots!

Thank you! :-)

Is this in Tazewell? :D Honaker didn’t get much.

Yep! Adria, to be exact. This is the rescue's land. :-)
