A LITTLE APPRECIATION GOES A LONG WAY
I watched as my brother grumbled endlessly over the weekend, more withdrawn than usual. I tried cracking some jokes but he wasn't into it.
I know he understands my impromptu home visit must be financial related, school is in session and nothing could bring me back home unless money. Since the day I arrived he leaves home earlier and returns later.
He returned earlier today and flung a parcel across to the other side of the room where I was seated. Relief on his face, in this moment I understood it all.
People are wired differently and react differently to situations, he didn't have to speak for me to understand the turmoil within. I ignored the cash and went over to him, hugged him and remained on him.
Thankful not just for the cash but his readiness to go through pain for my comfort. He smiled then, his first for the weekend.
Truly spoken.
