كان لرجل زوجتان واحدة سمراء ، و الأخرى بيضاء ... صمم الرجل على تطليق واحدة منهما فأجرى مسابقةً شعريةً بينهما ، والفائزة تبقى عنده .

قالت السمراء :
ألم تر أن المسك لا شيء مثله
وأن بياض الملح حُمل بدرهم
وأن سواد العين لا شك نورها
وأن بياض العين لا شيء فاعلم

ردت البيضاء :

ألم تر أن البدر لا شيء مثله
وأن سواد الفحم حُمل بدرهم
وأن رجال الله بيضٌ وجوههم
ولا شك أن السود أهل جهنم

سر الرجل بهذا الحوار الجميل ، و تزوج زوجه ثالثه حنطية اللون
