Travel - Germany - Linderhof Palace

My exploration of the South of Germany took me from Munich, to Oberammergau and then on the picturesque road St2060. I saw the turnoff to Linderhof Palance (aka Schloss Linderhoff in German) and decided to go and have a look. I did not regret the decision!

Linderhof Palance and its insane gardens are a good mix of Frence extravagance and German perfection. Build by Kind Ludwig II as the smallest of his three palaces, this got its inspiration from Versailles. This is very evident and according to Wikipedia, the staircase (for example) is a smaller version of the famous Ambassador's staircase in Versailles.

More impressive than the palace itself is its insane setting nested into the hillside. Behind the palace is a super cool fountain flowing down the mountain and ending in a massive statue of Neptune. The garden is also insane and rated as one of the most beautiful creations of historicist garden design - designed by Court Garden Director Carl von Effner.

I was nothing but impressed... personally I would prefer a small wood cabin on the hilltop, but this was impressive to seen. Let me know what you think?

You're right, that would have been cool. Unfortunately I had limited time and needed to get back to Ulm for work AND still had Neuschwanstein on my list for the day. Next time! :)

Wow.! Excellent architectural design. Outstanding photography. Follow and upvoted you. Thanks for sharing such a good post

LIKE the 1st image with the mountain in the background (nice) ..

And the 3rd image I also like -- it has a REAL DEPTH to it, with the Water element, the Terraced grounds, and then the Trees/Nature/Mountain as well.
