in #architecturalphotography7 years ago (edited)

As an architecture student, in certain classes they speak of unique and peculiar buildings that our country Venezuela. One day they told us about the Flower of Venezuela, which I did not know or knew of its existence, when I got home I researched about it and was fascinated, both about its structure and its form.

Every time I go on vacation with my family, we take the opportunity to deviate from the path, to discover new places and buildings, in this case it was the beautiful Flower of Venezuela, also known as Hannover Flower, work of the famous Venezuelan architect and Tachirense Fruto Vivas pride. Ever since I knew of her existence, I told my parents about her and enthusiastically told them that we should meet her.

Here is this wonder.

On those vacations, we went to the beach, we had an excellent 4 days as a family, back home, I ask my dad if there was the possibility of entering Barquisimeto, to be able to know this incredible building, and without thinking twice he said yes.

View from the avenue.

The emotion of seeing such a majestic work in person is indescribable, personally fills me with pride for being an architecture student. Undoubtedly an architect gathers knowledge traveling, knowing and studying buildings.

For its design, the architect is inspired by the tepuyes of the Gran Sabana de Venezuela and the national flower of Venezuela, the orchid. It has numerous gardens and forests representative of Venezuela, fish tanks, a library and an amphitheater.

They also have on display two models made for the visualization of the work.

  • The first model, was exhibited at the world expo of Hannover in 2000 in Germany and for unknown reasons, I finish of Hannover in Barquisimeto.

  • The second model, was the one designed to execute the work.

"Its structure is 16 meters high and protrudes from the building, its 16 petals of ten meters open and close according to the weather on a hydraulic "stem" of 19 meters high, which when fully open, or in full bloom, the flower has a diameter of 39 meters in height, it is a complete beauty to be able to observe it because it is one of the most imaginative works of which they can exist."

Ideas and design criteria totally suitable for the generator concept that the architect gives.

¡Buen post Lube!
