The legislate building in Victoria, BC
Victoria on Vancouver Island is actually the capital city of the Province British Columbia - not Vancouver, which a lot of people assume is the capital. Being the capital there is a architectural stunning building that is the Legislate Building, it is where all the 'hard working' politicians make their 'magic' happen.
However, the building itself is stunning and during the evening the are 100's of lights that really make you stop and appreciate the beauty of this building ~ I plan on taking some shots and posting soon to show you these. Strangely enough though, the history behind the Architect is somewhat tantalizing with a wee bit of drama. Firstly, his name was Francis Mawson Rattenbury and he was 25 and only arrived in Canada from England a few days before his submission for the building was selected as the winner. He is considered to still be the youngest Architect to have had a Legislate Building built in Canada.
BUT... it was his death that was quite well... sad and quite dramatic. He was murdered by his young 18-year old chaffeur, whom had recently been having an affair with his second wife, Alma. She was acquitted for murder and for being an accessory after the fact. However, she did commit suicide shortly after being acquitted. The chaffeur/murrder himself spent seven years in jail then was released early to enlist in the army for World War 2. It is said that he actually survived the war, then returned back to Canada, married and had children...
Also, side note - Francis Mawson Rattenbury wasn't exactly the nicest guy in the world - he left his wife and children for Alma and it is reported that once he moved out of their house he had the power shut off & flaunted his affair publicly with his new squeeze... That is kind of a d#$k move in my opinion

wow such an amazing building
Yup. Revered Rattenbury is kind of a lesser than good character. Beauty building none the less. Have you ever been inside?
I have before. I have even been to the restaurant inside as well
It is a beautiful senior citizen city. Lots of motorized scooters and walkers. No chance of employment. Lots of flowers and bong shops
lots of chance of employment, depending on your employment. Have you been here before?
Employment it actually booming right now, especially in construction. The real problem though is housing.
good post
Beautiful! It must be really good to live their. The view of wide green grass in the morning must be very relaxing.
It is an overall beautiful city to visit!

This is a beautiful building. I hope I will be able to see it when I am in Victoria later this year. We will only be there a few hours unfortunately. I love the architecture.
