Spider Lily of Glass and Stone (In Praise of the Burj Khalifa)

Right in the midst of the desert east
stands a modern wonder
with bricks and glass many meters high
She pierces through the cloudy skies
in the smoulder of the desert's boiling heat

Conqueror of heights
she give us the courage to lift our heads
to astound at her wonder and splendor
defying the eye blinding rays of the sun above

Like a beacon of hope
raised high amidst the blazing desert
she stands for all of us an Oasis
unbending to the winds of the Persian Gulf
with her we can know we always can say
that the sky is just a starting point

The architect drew a building
but her blueprints are a map of hope
the builders raised a structure
but her foundation is for all humanity a solid core
So let us aspire and let us hope

For the Burj Khalifa for us is just the down
of the top we have chosen to become.
