Arsenal have offered Alexis Sanchez a new deal worth £300,000 a week, according to the Daily Mail.
The Chile international has a year left on his current contract and has been linked with a move away from the Emirates.
He will not feature in the Premier League opener against Leicester on Friday Night Football, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Sanchez apparently made it clear he wants upwards of £300,000 before he would even consider a new Arsenal deal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, though, has told SFR Sport that he is not "super optimistic" that Sanchez will sign a new contact.
"In the short term he will remain an Arsenal player," said Wenger. "Whether we manage to get him to sign an extension or not… we have so far not been able to."
The Sun say Arsenal think they have made a breakthrough in the negotiations to keep Mesut Ozil at the Emirates.
It is reported that Ozil, who has a year left to run on his current deal, looks as though he will accept the £225,000-a-week offer.
