My New Home Task in Digital Painting. It was Extremely Difficult for Me

in #art8 years ago (edited)

I don't know why but this task was extremely difficult for me and I was even in creative crisis for a couple of days)). Thanks to my teacher I was returned back.))) And I finally finished it. So, the task was to make a digital painting from B&W photo. The result is far far far far from my expectations. And of course, if I redo it, I would do it better but....need to move further...The teacher said after the 50th portrait I would feel better and more satisfied...)))

This photo was given to me by the teacher to use as a basis.

Congrats you have been selected as Author of the day by the Steemvoter (SV) Guild, keep up the good work and helping make Steem great!

Note: You should receive many votes in an hour or so, this is our first try upvoting with our guild admin dashboard so bear with us if the votes don't come through that soon. they will however be in before your post closes.

Woah... from $8 to $128 and counting... we didn't know our force was so strong! :) Enjoy the great good pay day!

I think the service you offer is great... otherwise I would not use it for certain things. I am happy delegating my voting keys for that however, Gents, you need to sharpen up your service or check for bugs.

I have declined the guild option but my vote is on this post... I do no follow voting so it could only have come from your service... please check for a bug.

I have also paid for the premium option... but my vote is still used on your daily, if I do not vote on it manually first.

Hi Gavvet, sorry about that we will check for bugs, I will let @marcgodard know.

Thanks for bringing to our attention.

Hi Gavvet, @marcgodard has looked into the code and you are correct there was a bug, As of today all users who have opted out of the guild or have not accepted the ToS will not vote.

Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused, we will test again tonight and hopefully all will be fine.

Thanks for the feedback, how is NZ?

Pretty sweet mate :) very nice place for children to grow up, no alarms, burglar bars, fences or anything like that, very safe and lots of outdoor recreational facilities like parks, swimming pools and skate parks etc. :) hope you are doing well, maybe will see you here one day, IT professionals are on the skills shortage list.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! You made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very very very happy! And I would like to be a part of it to have more people that happy.)))) I signed up for SteemVoter.com but probably I need to do something else. I will try to find the information. Thank you very very very much again!Thank you for your support and encouraging me for further development!!!

And here is the coloring pattern:

And here is you tracing it in Photoshop:

You are absolutely right))) As I have written in my post the task was to make a digital painting from B&W photo. Although I still need to work much on achieving similarity. ))))

Would you please upload the photoshop files to the #steemitabuse channel?

I thought I clearly stated it in my post:

"So, the task was to make a digital painting from B&W photo."

Making a digital painting is not the same as tracing it digitally and coloring it.

BTW, thank you for editing in the source in:

This is a beautiful and powerful testament of perseverance and beauty in itself. Thank you so very much for sharing. Namaste :)

It looks great! I don't do digital portrait, but I think you need a lot of patience.

Ohhh yes! You are absolutely right! And thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!

I like the slightly shallow depth of field you have here. The colour is also fantastic.

Thank you very much. I need to work much to have portraits more alive.))) It is my first experience as I never painted portraits neither in oil or in the computer. I need much training))))

Practice makes perfect. You've got a good eye though.

I downvoted this post.

First, the material is derivative. This might not rise to the level of actual copyright infringement (and its not plagiarism because OP did not take credit for it), but it is a highly derivative work. At best, OP made a copy of a photograph by hand. At worst, OP ran a photograph through a photoshop filter. Either way, it is not original content, and does not deserve the level of reward it recieved.

Also, there is compelling evidence that SV is using votes for guild votes without authorization, and continuing their "opt-out" policy. Votes obtained this way are obtained by fraudulent means, and should be countered to the extent possible. Though the OP bears no blame in this, she is the beneficiary of it and the votes she gained through SV's improper use should be countered to the extent possible, IMO.

FTR -- looking at your blog, which seems to be mostly original work, i think its unfortunate that you've made a name for yourself with a post that is half a step down from copy and paste.

I don't think you should decline payout. I do think that it would be an admirable gesture for you to make your next post an original work, and decline payout for that one. IDK if it would make it OK in my mind, but it would certainly make it better than it is.

Thank you for your comment.

IMO, making a digital painting could certainly be tracing a photo digitally and coloring it in, if that is what you were planning on doing. That is the beauty of photoshop. People do it all the time.

Take comics for example. Artists have reference files of people in different, common poses for their characters so they can quickly get the shape of the human form for each scene without spending a lot of time on anatomy and perspective.

Not only do they trace over those, but they will go online and find different objects they may need. Once you quickly trace them to get the right shape, the coloring in whatever style you are doing is what's giving it its unique look.

The colors and detail are not the same as the original photo and it certainly takes talent to get the blending/shading to look right even if the photo is traced.

Tracing is tracing, and thank you.

@stephen.king989 Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

you feel like a bot, constantly repeating the same sentence. But I get it you are dealing with a lot of bullshit probably

"Derivative" or not, I think I like your version better than the photo @aksinya.

Oh thank you =) Please keep making more great art ^^
