But you have to get the foundation right.
Break it up,
Mix in something good,
Sweet, new.
Something to feed on,
Black, rich, living.
Then seeds,
A little bit of everything
But mostly lush lettuces and flowers.
See what sticks,
Thin it out later.
Finally pine-bark mulch for protection against
Silent heat,
Greedy weeds.
Keep the good things in.
