This is the 4th Art-Trail Contest. We keep working to build a real community of artists and art lovers - that's one of the purpose of a contest like this, as I said before.

For this reason, one of the category of this contest asks to the artists to share their self portraits (you don't have a self portrait? Do it now, even just a sketch!

Self-portraying is not just painting a portrait: it is a way for the artist to see and show how he sees himself. It's a way to bare our own souls. It's a visual confession.

The Communities of SteemTrail  are proud to announce the 4th ArtTrail Contest and its SELF-PORTRAIT category.

How it works: 

- All artists on Steemit can submit their artworks from today to June 3, Saturday, h 11pm GMT.

- Each artist can submit 1 artwork for each of the 3 categories of the Contest

- For this 4th edition, the categories are

1. SELF-PORTRAITS (digital, photographic or traditional painting/drawing)
2. PAINTING (Not digital)
3. DIGITAL ART AND DIGITALLY RETOUCHED PHOTOGRAPHS

 All submitted artworks have obviously to be original made by the artist who owns the steemit account. Bots are not allowed to submit. Nor aliens ;)

To submit an artwork, each artist has to:

- make a post containing "4th Art-Trail Contest" in the title and #arttrailcontest4 in the tag

- publish in the post a photograph of his submitted artwork/s (at least 1200px for the longest side)

- indicate category, title, size, date and technique of the submitted artworks.

- paste the link to his posts in the comments of this post.

Prizes: 

The winner of each category will receive 250 TRAIL Token and 5 Steems and will be featured in the Art Trail.

Some examples of famous self-portraits

Many great artists did self-portraits. (Many other never did.)

Everyone knows Van Gogh's self-portraits, for instance.

Great painters of the past used to portray themselves in a corner of their group painting. It was a way to say "I'm a painter, I did this, I deserve to be in it, even if I'm just an craftsman". So did Botticelli, for example.
