I love creating these and am so happy many are enjoying reading through them!

This weeks portrait

Angelina Jolie

Starting off this portrait I will give you some tips on creating proper eye spacing.
A general rule of thumb is that the spacing in between the eye, should be the same length as the eye itself.

1.JPG

Take some sort of a piece of paper or ruler to measure the eye and draw notches on the paper to mark where your second eye starts and ends.

2.JPG

then draw in your second eye within those markings

3.JPG

draw in your general face outline

4.JPG

add in your framing borders to get a full conceptualization of how your art work will come together.

6.JPG

Now draw in the shapes separating the darkest and lightest shadows.

Lightly shade in and smooth out the entire area for the hair.

9.JPG

my favorite type of eraser for fine line highlights is actually just a typical school pencil with a white eraser. This makes for clean precise detailing.

10.JPG

you can start to add in the line weight for the eyes.

11.JPG

then the nose and lip shadows.

14.JPG

smooth all those dark details out with your shader

15.JPG

then you will add your biggest jump in contrast that will start to really pull this portrait together. use about a hb pencil and shade in the entire hair region leaving the erased details.

16.JPG

Then smooth and clean up that shading.

25.JPG

Use a broader eraser and lightly pull back the lightest areas of the shadows you created on the face with shaders in order to create a more organic gradient.

26.JPG

the last step is to just continue to hone in on the line details and shading by deepening your tones to match your reference image contrast.

Nice talent :)

It is really the same.

Wonderful!

Maybe you could do a daily series, on how-to's.

Day 1.) Eyes

Day 2.) Lips.... Etc.

You make it look so easy! I will follow you.

great suggestion! thank you so much.

I was not the first, because I just came from the train. Just went into "new" and unexpected .. Your work :)

Very cool and well done.

too cool :) glad you like it! inspired by you.

I learned to draw from the book. I do not remember the name of the woman who wrote it, a popular book among artists. I really did not finish it. It all started with the fact that you need to rotate the image 180 degrees - then the left hemisphere of the brain begins to work.

The problem is really that the book does not help to develop (in cameras this is called the viewfinder). When you look at the object and then redraw it. And you finish the work - with shadows.

Quite interesting, but I realized that it was not mine.))
Although I love other people's pictures. Especially black and white.
But I like working with the camera. Probably because I'm a lazy ass xDD

Nice art work.
