Travel Diaries: Ernest Zacharevic & Art on Heritage Buildings, Penang Island.
Georgetown, a UNESCO Heritage site oozes old Malayan charm and encourages graffiti art. Art enthusiasts and the like are no stranger to Ernest Zacharevic’s work!
Zacharevic, a Lithuanian "fine-art artist, who paints on the streets", was commissioned by the Penang Municipal Council in 2012. As part of a street art project called “Mirrors Georgetown”, he created 9 large murals around the city which showcase local life. There are street tours and [free maps online](http://www.tourismpenang.net.my/pdf/street-art-brochure.pdf) that show you where Georgetown’s art is located; great to have when exploring. Many of the murals are slowly fading or have faded, catch em’ while you can!
I shall only share two of my favourites, for some of you who will be traveling this part of the world soon; Some things for you to discover yourself, yes? :)
