The literary work of the Italian philosopher Nicolás Machiavelli marked a precedent in the intellectual and cultural advances of the Renaissance era.

  • The Prince (1532)

This posthumous work is one of the most representative of history and its creator, who raises the possibility of conceiving politics as a methodological and analytical science, free of moral and religious precepts. It was written in a time of Italian political crisis that raises the incursion of the monarchy into corruption and the actions to be taken to restructure the legal system of the State.

  • The Mandrake (1524)

It is a satire written in prose that constitutes a direct critic to the decay of the society of the time to which Machiavelli qualified as "imperfect and dirty". This is a literary and theatrical comedy that tells the story of a young French man who arrives in Italy and falls in love with a young woman committed to a millionaire man older than her.

  • Epistolario (1512-1517)

It is a compilation of very personal writings of the author in which he reflects his great reflections on the political events of the time, always directed towards the importance of the separation of the State and the Church, criticized by his moral way of governing.

  • Of the Conjurations

This literary work made him one of the most important strategists of modern times, as he describes the strategies, the importance and the dangers of military maneuvers or armies for political leaders, employed in a forced way to stay in power absolute.

  • From the Art of War (1521)

The Renaissance writing is a kind of review between two of his most outstanding works: The Prince and The Discourses on the First Decade of Livy, where he reflects on the discipline and military doctrine, the militia and war, the messianic aspects during The time. In addition, it gathers the technical and theoretical forms of the military bases, in a way that anticipates that historical period and adapts the current times.
