Who knew polishing rocks could be so satisfying?
My work with rocks began earlier this year, after watching Samurai Carpenter's YT video on creating a bathroom sink in four hours from a rock he found.
When I came home and told my partner about our new sink, she cautioned me about the size of the endeavour and convinced me to start with a soap dish. Turns out, even a little soap dish takes a little more than an hour.
In all I think this sink took close to 22 hours of cutting and polishing. I went all the way from 60 grit to 3000. The more I polished, the more contrast.
I was considering making a tutorial here, if anyone cared to learn or watch. Let me know in the comments and if there's enough interest, I'll make one.
As far as soap dishes go, I've made about a dozen soap dishes so far. I like making them because the payback is quick. There's only so many you need around the house but they make good birthday gifts.

I do! Patient persistence has been the rule I have lived by and it almost always pays off. (I did break my first 3 soap dishes... but I persisted ;)

Thanks for sharing --- Are you able to engrave these? Did you just find these rocks outside or did you buy them?
I've found them while on walks and on beaches. I would start buying them if I started to make them commercially. Its easier to find soap dish appropriate rocks, but it takes a specific sized rock for a sink.
I assume they can be engraved, but haven't tried yet.
