How i made a present for my girlfriends birthday (German/Endlish)

Meine Freundin wurde letzten Monat 30 Jahre alt und zu ihrem Ehrentag überlegte ich mir mal etwas besonderes, dass ich ihr schenken kann. Mir war es wichtig, für sie Zeit und mühe zu investieren, weil sie es wert ist. Ich habe früher schon einmal mit Stencils gearbeitet, also suchet ich mir eine Ausrede, weshalb ich nicht mit ins Bett kommen konnte und machte mich auf um ein passendes Foto zu finden. Nicht ganz leicht, da die Belichtung schon stimmen muss und die ganzen Fotos ohne "Vorahnung" an das Projekt geschossen worden sind. Außerdem muss ich eins finden, was auch meiner Freundin gefallen würde, da dieses Bild auch in der Wohnung hängen und nicht den Abstellraum zieren sollte.

My friend turned 30 last month and for her special day I thought of something special that I can give her. It was important for me to invest time and effort because it is worth it. I used to work with stencils before, so I'm looking for an excuse why I could not get to bed with her and went to find a suitable photo. Not very easy, since the exposure must be correct and the whole photos were shot without any "foreshadowing" to the project. In addition, I have to find one, which would also please my girlfriend, as this picture should also hang in the apartment and not decorate the storage room.

Foto gefunden, so muss ich es erst einmal am PC bearbeiten. Dafür benutze ich das kostenlose GIMP Programm. So musste ich den Hintergrund entfernen, das restliche Bild auf Schwarz/Weiß und auf 4 Farbtöne umstellen. Im Anschluss habe ich jede einzelnen Farbton in eine Ebene gepackt um sie als Umrandung zum ausschneiden vorbereitet.

Photo found, so I have to edit it on the PC. For this I use the free GIMP program. So I had to remove the background, change the rest of the picture to black and white and 4 shades. Afterwards I have packed each color in a single layer to prepare it as a border to cut out.

Ausgedruckt ging es dann an die Arbeit, die einzelnen "Layers" auszuschneiden. Der schwierige Teil der Arbeit ist, die kleinen Kanten nicht wegzuschneiden und beim sprayen drauf zu achten, dass alle ecken gut beschwert sind, damit keine Farbe dort hin kommt wo sie nicht hin soll. Dies habe ich leider erst nach den 2 ersten Schablonen festgestellt, bin aber mit dem Endprodukt zufrieden. Meine Freundin hat sich riesig gefreut und das ist alles was zählt. Ich glaube, ich werde des öfteren ein kreatives Projekt. Macht spaß und ist eine tolle Beschäftigung.

The hard part of the job is not to cut away the small edges and when spraying, make sure that all corners are well weighted so that no paint gets where it should not go. Unfortunately, I have found this only after the first two templates, but I am satisfied with the final product. My girlfriend was really happy and that's all that matters. I think I often become a creative project. It's fun and a great job.
