Crafts: Range Weapons (inspired from Big Hunter)

in #art7 years ago

Hello Steemians! I'm drawingwithflare.

Untitled96-1.jpg

I'm back and today, I show you another 3 for 1 special! So with two of these 3 for 1 post, I don't think it's that special but still. So the theme for this one is ranged weapons that you throw. Mainly a Shuriken, a Boomerang and a Spear.

In this craft, I used 80cw sandpaper, glue and superglue, utility knife, vice, pencil and eraser, Brown Kuretake calligraphy pen, Black and Silver paint, clear nail polish, and of course the popsicle sticks.

We start with the shuriken. Defitely the smallest craft yet.

20180527_002251.jpg

So first, I cut out a mini quadrilateral (a Kite per se) with a right angle on one end and an acute on the other.

20180527_003108.jpg

After that, I outlined them onto the popsicle. I made for of them since this will be a four pronged shuriken.

20180527_003220.jpg

And then, cut them to a more manageable pieces.

20180527_005613.jpg

And then I cut them out. As you can see, the right angles fit perfectly and form a cross. So the blades would be equal in sizes.

20180527_012949.jpg

Then, I glued them. It may look weird since I place two together and the other two are upside down. I did that cause it looked better than when all of them are facing the same direction.

20180527_014426.jpg

Then I sharpened it as even as possible.

20180527_030019.jpg

And then, I painted it with a dark silver colour (black and a little bit of silver mixed).

20180527_030449.jpg

Then, I used a clear nail polish as a smooth coat.

20180527_030449.jpg

And then, using a grayish blue embroidery thread, I hid the glued spaces and made it look secure.

20180527_031623.jpg

And that's it done! I just added more superglue to the thread so it wouldn't untangle.

20180529_203647.jpg

The shuriken is just a tid bit smaller than an inch.

Moving on to the boomerang.

20180525_180747.jpg

I started by gluing 3 popsicle sticks together (1×3)

20180525_182723.jpg

Then I draw half of the boomerang on a piece of paper. I only did half so I can keep symmetry and so it can fit on one popsicle to avoid an unacceptable line going through the middle of the boomerang.

20180525_182729.jpg

Then I traced them on the popsicle.

20180525_183308.jpg

Then cut them out to a sizeable size.

PSX_20180529_210144.jpg

Then I removed the excess using a utility knife and I sanded as I go.

20180525_213717.jpg

Then I glued them together.

20180525_222908.jpg

I sanded it just about 1 1/2 popsicle thick.

20180525_230808.jpg

Then I used the grayish blue embroidery thread to hide the space I glued it.

20180525_231534.jpg

Then I used a white embroidery thread to form a pattern which you can see, it looks pretty fine.

20180525_232402.jpg

And then I used the Brown Kuretake Brush pen to colour the wood parts.

20180525_235244.jpg

Then I used a clear nail polish to give a smooth finish for the boomerang.

20180529_203631.jpg

And that's it done! The length of this boomerang is precisely 2 inches.

PSX_20180527_041744.jpg

Then we go onto the Spear. Possibly the longest creation so far.

<20180526_035254.jpg/center>

So first, I drew the spear head on a 1×3 popsicle base.

20180526_041012.jpg

Then I cut most of it out. I didn't removed it all cause it's easier to refine the edges with a handle.

20180526_041630.jpg

Then I removed the excess. I made the piece that will connect with the shaft longer cause it felt really small.

20180526_043400.jpg

Then I made the sharp end thinner than the connecting piece. Not quite thin as the blades of my other creations, but thin enough for a spear head.

20180526_171518.jpg

And then I sharpened the spear head.

20180526_172205.jpg

Then I rounded off the connecting piece of the spear head.

20180526_174722.jpg

After that, I drilled a small hole on the spear head.

20180526_180204.jpg

And I got a decently long wooden skewer.

20180526_182203.jpg

Then I drilled a hole to the wooden skewer.

20180526_182854.jpg

And then got a small piece of metal wire that will act as a connector for the spear head and to the shaft. And I could've used a toothpick or something that sort, but I used a metal wire to act as more weight towards the head.

20180526_183731.jpg

So I first glued it to he spear head.

20180526_201027.jpg

Then to the wooden skewer.

20180526_203928.jpg

So I first thought it would look cool with a generic silver head.

20180530_211418.jpg

I didn't quite like how it looks so I changed it to a darker tone of silver [Silver and Black mixed together (Colour ratio | Silver - Black = 3 - 10)].

20180526_212248.jpg

Then I coloured the shaft with a darker silver (Colour ratio | Silver - Black = 1 - 10).

20180526_212253.jpg

And then I polished it with the clear nail polish.

20180526_223145.jpg

And then I used a cyan embroidery thread and wrapped the connecting piece of the spear head.

20180526_223814.jpg

And then I just wrapped the grey embroidery thread in a cross pattern. And it's done!

20180529_203611.jpg

I said it's the longest cause the length of this spear is just a few centimetres longer than 8 inch.

20180511_201748.png

And there you go! That's the throwable set! It wasn't that hard making like the other creation, but it was fun! And if you noticed, all of this is inspired from the game "Big Hunter". So yeah, see you on the next one, Ciao!
