White House offered 18k Solid Gold sculpture from the Guggenheim en lieu of Van Gogh painting.
Its nothing new for the First Family to borrow famous works of art to adorn the White House, The Smithsonian loaned the Kennedys a Eugène Delacroix painting, “The Smoker,” while the Obamas preferred abstract art, choosing works by Mark Rothko and Jasper Johns.
So it was hardly news when Trump's White House requested to borrow the famous 1888 Vincent van Gogh titled "Landscape with Snow"
Unfortunately for the Trump family however, the painting they requested in unavailable for loan. Not all was bad though, as Nancy Spector was kind enough to help find a possible replacement piece.
In her reply to the White House Nancy wrote that "fortuitously, a marvelous work by the celebrated Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan," was not only available, but had been offered for loan by the artist himself!
The art piece in question is a popular, fully functioning, solid 18k gold sculpture that just ended a 1 year stay at the Guggenheim. A picture below shows the art work in all its magnificence.
A gilded toilet, what could be a better analogy for Trump's presidency? Oh, and the name of this particular work of art? "America"
"America." Isn't it nice to see how the world sees us?
There is a reason I claim to be Canadian when not in the US.
