The Flower Cube Matrix

Today I will post up the process behind this magical portal. This piece was done using acrylic paint on a hexagonal canvas. I start these by doing a light sketch of the geometry in chalk then I begin to add the layers of paint expanding from the center outward until it encompasses the entire area.

I dont usually have a plan as to where the final outcome will go or the colors that ill be using. Its all done purely by intuition. The more I add to it the more I can see it complete. I always take a step back and look at it to see which colors need to be more balanced and which ones need to be more emphasized. It can never really be finished as when it comes to these type of mandalas they can go on forever in intricacy. A flower forever blooming into eternity. But at one point I just get a feeling that I should stop and leave it as is. Here is the last progress photo before the end result.

And that was it! These dont take me too long, Im not exactly sure how long this one took as I tend to work on multiple paintings at a time and dont keep track of the time.
