Weston Sand Sculpture Festival 2017
The theme to this years Sand Sculpture Festival in Weston Super-Mare, UK was 'Topsy Turvy World'
Artistic leader Nicola Wood said” We are all so excited about the public choice. It’s the perfect theme to give incredible freedom to the artists and that always makes for a great exhibition”. After Banksy paved the way for controversial and alternative expression in Weston 2 years ago, the organisers are hoping to keep some of that spice alive.
“Banksy was a real breakthrough for the town and we have had endless extravagant requests for sculptures since…including a giant Trump! I’m not sure we all agree on that one though” says Alec Messchaert, event organiser.
“One thing we do promise is that there will be something for everyone and we will continue to be a fun, family friendly event with plenty of interactive activities” adds Alec.
So what exactly does Topsy Turvy entail? Upside down, back to front, the wrong way around and inside out! A crazy world of the distorted and the extraordinary. Here are some of the fabulous sculptures that were on display ......
As you can see the yearly event was more talent packed than ever before, some real creative genius on display.
