"Isle of the Death" after Böcklin - acrylic on paper

in #art7 years ago

I finally finished my latest painting "Isle of the Death". It's inspired by Arnold Böcklin's famous painting of the same name. (--> link)

These are soo good and by the speed with which you are uploading them you must be painting quite fast too. Amazing!

Thank you! I'm absolutely not fast - most of the paintings I'm uploading were painted years or decades ago!

Oh fair enough... I was wondering too.. they are so detailed!

I love it! It's dark and gloomy as its name claims, but there is the light deep down, the always-shining light of life and existence in an other dimension, beyond flesh and bones.
Great work once again!

Thank you Ruth! I was about to call it "The island of Rebirth" but then I found it would be too cheesy...

No there is so much more hidden meaning in the "Isle of Death", it's as if you imply that after the darkness of non-physical existence the light of the soul, our spirit, still lives. The yellow light gives a warm and optimistic feeling. I like it that way :)

Wow! You are the bomb. The pictures are incredible. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! :-)

Incredible work again! how do you get that line-texture under the painting?

Thank you! The paper is primed with Gesso and this gives it this texture.

Ah, thank you!

Excellent work! I'm certain your collector will be very happy with this. =)

I hope he will! Thank you Leo!

This is amazing! :D Great job! :)

Thank you Marie!

Looks like something that would be fitting in Game of Thrones.

I'm more into Game of Drones :-)
