INSPIRATION:
This is my entry for the Visionary Art Contest, out of the three theme choices I went with "Hyper-Dimensional Object".
Now I immediately thought of Hyper Cubes, Which is a mathematical concept dealing with geometry and higher dimensional planes. The geometric object in specific that I reference in this piece is the Tesseract, which is the most well known out of all of them.
The Tesseract is the four-dimensional equivalent of the cube, like the cube is the three-dimensional equivalent of the square and the square is the two dimensional equivalent of a line, which is one-dimensional.
Though I don't think what I drew is technically a Tesseract because I added a third inner section to mine.
PROCESS:
Starting this one in pencil, took me a bit to decide how I wanted to set up this piece. Trying my best not to get stuck on the small details.
Moving on into the ink stage, I use a fine liner for the line work. using a fine liner keeps my lines more uniform over using a brush.
Once the line work is finished I switch to a brush and Deleter black 4 to fill in the background. I decided against a star field in the background on this one, the idea being that not a star in the sky is bright enough to compete.
On to color! I kept it a bit simpler this time, just blocking in with flat colors and leaving it at that. No blending necessary on this one. I did however go back and put some extra details on the "Spine Cable" in the end.
