5 Tips to draw the Avenger: Scarlet Witch (+Thanks previous post!)

in #art7 years ago (edited)

I have to confess something else, guys... I cheated (Hey, it's not what it looks like! Sweetie, save that shotgun and let me explain it to you!). I have made several realistic drawings about Marvel in my drawing class, but recently I published one of Wonder Woman from DC, the competence... How far could I get for her... Is that... Look at her sweetness!

Stop! This post is not about her! (Focus, José Angel! Jaja)... As I was saying, I wanted to do a Marvel drawing taking in count that “Avengers Infinity War” will be released soon, and with the avenger Scarlet Witch I wanted to explore a field in which I am learning ... A capricious and sublime technique: Pastel chalk. Here is my experience in 5 tips:

(All images were captured with: Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera DMC-LS6)

Start with a thick cardboard by doing the sketch and clear it gently with a modeling eraser, this way you will also take care of the texture of the cardboard. Go placing the chalk and dispersing it with your fingers. The skin color may look dark, but calm! When you color the background, the contrast will give you its true tone.

After you highlight the details of your energy sphere with white pastel chalk and expand the background color, apply spray fixative (it is flammable, so stay away from the fire if you do not want a grilled drawing!). Wait during 5 minutes to dry and start applying shadows with colors on the skin, suit and hair, blonde like in the new Avengers movie.

Complete the dark shadows gently with color pencils. Here I drew with a Vanilla Latte that I asked the friendly Audrey in “Artesano Cafetería”... It was too SUPER, it almost had a cape included (Oh no! Another reference to DC comics... Sorry, Marvel!)

Have fun with even other fast drawings (that 10min live portrait in class will have his post... In next episodes! ;-D) and most importantly, Enjoy the process! Sing while you draw or work, eat while you write, pause for a good coffee while you draw (being careful… Do not think about Gal Gadot so much!), joke with your loved ones... Happiness is a decision and it is now!

Remark dark details and ask for the opinion of another person, you will always see something that escapes you. If you want, apply a color on the background with pastel chalk to vary pure black. Aaaaand the drawing is done!:

I want to finish with a picture with my drawing teacher, my artistic sensei (he was the one who told me that I cheated on Marvel! Jaja). Thanks to his patience and knowledge I have ventured to grow step by step as an artist and even as a person. I pray to God that we all get mentors who inspire us to grow!
