The holy stonesteemCreated with Sketch.

I have been reading, listening to podcast and youtube videos about the bronze age this autumn, and that is what inspired this drawing.

Sadly the vertical hatching with thin lines creates a lot of moiré when shown in low resolution on the screen. I have tried to blur it but that took away more than it added, so here it is. If you look at it in a smaller version the light and shadow is easier to see.

The strange symbols on the stone are what the archaeologist call upsidedown man and dagger. They are found on Sardinia.

From the Civic Archaeological Museum of the Menhir Statues

Noone really knows how they were used, why they were made and what the meaning of the symbols signify, but that does of course not hold back the archeologists. There is an abundance of hypotheses.

In reality I think that humans then and now is pretty similar :) They probably had a lot of hypotheses about what went on in the stone age.

beautiful images. I love the drawing, you are right, the smaller scale picture shows it much better. Is this done on a scrap-o-foil medium?

The drawing is done digitally, my preferred method with the Katharsisdrill pseudonym. It works in high resolution and in low, but in 672 px width it just make moiré like mad and is annoying to look at :)

another good drawing.... your ability is special...

Thank you, nice of you to say.
