trippy new post-Christmas artwork (object landscapes)
I've stepped away from the RGB universe for a bit to play in a new mode, this one a fusion of several techniques I've used in the past. What these images all share is that in each there is some sort of strange object positioned in a space, in a vague, abstracted landscape of whatever sort. In each work I've tried to keep the focus on the object and make the background world very simple.

There's a cold, tundra-like feel to this one that I like. What does it make you think of?
Terrarium (2019) digital art by Kevin McLaughlin
This one is warmer, sort of a basket / jaw / ark / terrarium... it's always hard to pick one word because the things I depict usually end up being multiple things at once, to me. The confusion I'm hoping to create in the viewer's eye ("what IS it?") is a feature, not a bug.
Seedling (2019) digital art by Kevin McLaughlin
This one is a bit more chart-like, more architectural, like the beginnings of a building are springing out of the earth. I may develop the background with a bit more color, but in its current form I like that it supports (and does not competes with) the main figure.
Thanks for taking a look my newest images at the tail end of 2019!! Happy New Year!!
