Artist: Esa Kripanik

This Dancing Bear or Balancing Bear was carved by Esa Kripanik in Igloolik, Nunavut. As far as I have been told he is the only carver in Igloolik that can make these balancing bears. They are unique because they are able to balance on each individual foot and give the appearance that the bear is dancing.

As you may have noticed the fur on the bear has relief carvings in it too. The animals are;

Narwhal

And here is the maker's mark on the bottom of the stand.

We bought the piece directly from Esa as we live in Igloolik. This particular piece is a wedding present for my sister-in-law. I look forward to collecting many more of his pieces.
