Frida - Persisting when confronted with challenges

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Frida Kahlo, a woman who persisted regardless of her challenges and pain, her personal image is just as iconic as that of her artwork. Today to some degree, she has passed over to cult celebrity status and is worshipped almost as much as the saints of her native Mexico.

To say that she never had an easy life would be an understatement, having survived polio as a child, she then while still a student, suffered horrific injuries in a traffic accident. This left her bed ridden for months and with life long disabilities and pain.

Yet through all of this, she displayed great fortitude and persistence. She also had to apply this to her art career, as she struggled to make a living. It is was not until the later part of her life that she started to see some decent returns.

So if ever you're feeling down about your creative endeavours, think of Frida. Perhaps you have it easier than you think.

What a beautiful work of art...

I like it! big like for you!

My beloved Frida, broken body and soul..Such a fighter, women of great courage, and I believe her greatest strength was that she was so open, honest in her painting..Putting her soul into canvas..Thank you for remaining @leoplaw

I believe her artwork was what kept her sane through so much hardship. It is the endurance is what speaks to people through her artwork.

Great art of a great artist!

This is so beautiful! Your technique is point on! Thank you for sharing and showing your process photos - those were great! :D

She is truly an inspiration the injuries and pain she suffered yet managed to fight and outcome it..

I recall reading that she said her art was her therapy, her outlet to express her pain and frustrations.
