Jamaican Maze - Acrylic painting done by a 6 years old boy

My 6 years old son is fascinated about Usain Bolt (Lightening Bolt). Ever since he saw him running for the first time on YouTube, he always strives to become a better sprinter, a better athlete.

Thanks to Bolt, running turned into one of his passions. If asked to chose between going to a playground or a running track, he will chose the latter without any hesitation.

Unlike other kids his age, he would gladly give up cartoons or playing with other kids for spending more time at the sports arena.

His interest in Usain Bolt did not stop only at running - related things, he also wanted to learn more details about the world's champion background. That we googled him and read and watched whatever we could find on him.

After learning more about Usain's life, my little prodigy expressed his interest in creating a painting about him. (Yes, painting with acrylics is one of his other passions.)

I was not expecting a portrait cause most of his previous artworks were abstract. (You can see some of them in the links placed at the bottom of this post.)

Thus I provided him a canvas, brushes, knives and a basket filled with acrylic paint tubes. I let him decide the colours for his painting and the tools he wanted to use. He selected green, black, red, yellow, blue and titanium white. You may note that among those he chose there are the colours of the Jamaican flag.

When the artwork was done, I was surprised to hear his explanation for its title: Jamaican Maze.

The black frame look is supposed to show the viewer a glimpse into Usain's life. Just like a reality show that you are watching on TV, the spiral represents his struggle and the fact that he never gave up his dream of becoming a world record holder.
