Long-eared Owl - Aquarelle
Dear Steemian!
Years ago I painted this owl, with watercolours. Bit weird he is called 'long-eared', because the feathers on top of its head aren't ears. I thought I once heard the feathers on top are to show the mood of the owl (scared, angry, comfortable).
In Dutch the name is Ransuil, I read it is called after a Ranse, which appears to be a Middle-Age word for hat with cap, hanging down in folds (roughly translated).
Posting this makes me think I really need to paint more owls! Love them...
Thanks for visiting, I hope you like it and come by another time!
