Roksolana
It is not given to anyone to penetrate into the secret of two lovers' hearts. One can only find documents that would help at least to come closer to unraveling one of the most amazing novels of the era, which had an irrefutable influence on the development of events in the then-world and in the future.
The Turkish TV series "The Magnificent Century, Roksolana" this year influenced the every evening schedule of the majority of Ukrainian women. After all, the main character is Ukrainian. And, many are convinced that only our woman ("because of her Ukrainian character, the will power inherent in Ukrainian women," wrote the outstanding Ukrainian polyglot scientist, historian and orientalist Agatangel Krymsky) is capable of becoming a real heroine of such a fantastic story - and where there is a fairy Cinderella.
Although the screen revolutions, in spite of the seriousness of the titles that speak about the historical basis of the script, it is far from the real biography of the famous Ukrainian, known in Turkey as Hurrem ("laughing", "cheerful, joyful" - so called in the harem laughable polonyanku), and in Europe as Roksolana, that is, a Rusinka, comes from Russia; it's not your own name, but your nationality. Roksolans, according to the Latin definition, were then called Europeans people on the territory of present-day Ukraine; and since the first reports about the Ukrainian in the Ottoman palace came to us from European sources, this name was established in the domestic historical and literary tradition as its name. And, perhaps, the secret of the popularity of the series is also that there is much more for Ukrainians than a literal illustration of the always fascinating process "from dirt to princes".
