BASIC DRAWING TOOLS

in #art6 years ago

Hello dear Steemians!

Today I went out and got myself something that I have been missing for a long time.... I bought a basic set of drawing tools/pencils.

Those that already follow my blog know I draw mostly with a regular graphite pencil and a mechanical graphite pencil for the small details. That was all I used to create all of my artwork posted in my blog so far.

In time I have realised that I have to up my game so to speak if I want to improve my drawing skills and my artwork, so I decided to go out and buy a basic professional drawing set like this one.

As you can see from the picture this set has 10 pencils and 1 tool (a blending stump). Now to be honest you don't need any of this to create beautiful art, but like any tool it helps with your work. This set cost me around 10 dollars.
So allow me to show you just how it helps and I have to say, I love my new blending stump :).
I'm going to show you how shading looks with and without blending by using this little tool.

So this is shading without blending. You can clearly see the hard lines made with a pencil and gaps in the consistency of shading wich is mostly my own fault (lack of skill and lazyness)...

However now I can fix that with my blending stump :).
Here is the same drawing after using the stump... Now you see how shading becomes smooth and mostly consistent almost like a real shadow...

But like I said before you don't need the stump, you can use your finger to create the same effect, but the stump allows for more precision and clean hands :D.
I hope that you find this post helpful in some way, so keep on arting and good luck :).

As allways thank you for supporting amateur art.
