RE: An American Success Story: Brooke Lanier

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Hi @dfrankle! It was very interesting getting to know Brooke Lanier and her work through your post. I like her "slow read" philosophy, it seems to be in sharp contrast with how everything is so fast in today's world. The fact that she completed that painting in 10 years was quite a surprise for me and the statement "I think that I might’ve finally hatched it" so aptly captures it. Her paintings seem to have a pleasant earthy feel to them.

The last painting looks amazing with all that texture and mix of colours.

I loved the following lines:

“You have to work really hard, and be consistent and diligent, and try to be getting better. And if you think that you know how to do something, you’re being arrogant, and you’re wrong, because there will always be someone who knows how to do something better than you. And that’s OK, because you can learn from them. And you can’t stop learning.”

Thanks for sharing!
